I was asked to do a demonstration at Largo Bay Arts Society. Here is the painting that I did last night, not quite completed. The orange ground is showing through in the foreground rocks.

I did this tonal study for a new painting I have in mind. I sketched the scene when we were on Barra so I could refer to it in the studio.

Doing this study took me right back to the Outer Hebrides and its quirky landscape.

This afternoon I made an effort to get my oil paints out and walk up to the fields behind our house to do a study. In the nearby fields tractors we ploughing, I was not the only one working!

Just loved this beach on Barra. However it was one of many beautiful beaches we saw on our trip to the island. We were only away for a few days yet I have had so much inspiration from the visit. I look forward to doing more paintings soon.

Just back from a tour of some of the Hebridean islands. A great trip which has given me lots of inspiration. The recent life drawing class lesson was using charcoal to get an idea of the shapes then coming in with conte to define the drawing. I chose to use this technique to do a landscape study from the ferry ride looking to the Uist hills.

I took a visit to St. Monans with my brother who was over from Canada. While there I did some sketching as it was a beautiful day and the harbour was looking spectacular.

I have started back at my evening life drawing class at Dundee College. We had just one pose for the evening, which meant a detailed study was possible.

September is a favourite month off mine. I particularly love the sunsets you see in this season. I saw the sun setting last night and just had to paint it.
