It has been interesting finding different subjects for the days I am able to do a small painting for this blog. I liked the personalities these little people seem to have. They seemed to be conversing with each other!
Woke to lots of snow today. Went out to the fields behind our house and did a very quick oil sketch.

The sun was hitting the top of the fields and that was what caught my attention. As I was painting in the shadow I had very cold fingers, it was not just the fields that were frozen.
Went down to Balmerino and set up on the shore to do this painting. It was really enjoyable listening to the water lapping close by until I realised my feet were getting wet as the tide came in! I had to move a couple of times until I finished this study.

At the weekend I bought this vase from the St Andrews pottery shop and it inspired this painting.

On the way home yesterday the sands at St Andrews were looking really stunning. Decided today to go back and do a plein air painting on the West Sands. The waves were breaking over the rocks and there were lots of sea birds feeding.

I have decided to do a painting a day ideally from life. Here is my first painting. I was delivering paintings to the Jerdan Gallery in Crail and decided to go along to Pittenweem by the harbour. The fishing boats were arriving home one by one and gave me the perfect subject for this painting.
